There are many things I learned throughout my time in this course that I have learned that have proved to be the most useful in my composition process. This includes improvements in my writing processes such as organization and citing sources. I have also eliminated many flaws such as repetitiveness and unclear claims. However, what I have found to be most useful is creating an outline before making a draft. This helps me to work towards my final product of an essay. Once I have an outline I can then use it as a foundation for my draft. I can then build on this draft until I have the final draft of my essay. This outline is important because it allows me to have a plan that I can use to have an idea of where I want to go with my essay and what I want to focus on. Revising and reediting my work is another useful thing I learned in my composition process. This is something that I use after I have written a draft and it helps me to make sure there are minimal flaws. This is also a crucial step in my writing process as it is the final step in achieving my final essay.

Their relationship between my research essay and my MMT is that the information for each stems from the research I used for my RCA essay. These assignments use the same information but present it in different forms of media. My research essay explored the topic I was researching which was the effect of social media addiction on the youth. Both my research essay and my MMT both had the purpose of explaining to the youth the dangers of an excessive use of social media. I was trying to reach audience of young people who use social media in both of these works. In my RCA essay I write based on my research and organize my essay with paragraphs based on the area or topic from the research that I am focusing on. In my slideshow presentation I used this same information, however, I created different slides to show my focus on each different area of my research. My translation of a blog included creating different blog posts to explain the different areas of my research. These assignments had different formats, however, they still conveyed the same message and worked towards the same purpose.

My argument has somewhat changed throughout the development of my RCA essay. In the beginning of my essay I was focusing on how screen time is a major issue for the youth in our society. However, later in my essay I have added a new focus such as how other factors such as cultural factors may affect social media addiction. I have also added a major focus on the health of the youth when using social media. I feel like this an important part of my research as I am focusing on the direct causes of the social media addiction.

There are some theories that is related to my inquiry. These theories are the questions that I am trying to answer as I continue to conduct research on my topic. A major theory is that social media is designed to be appealing to the young generation. Another theory is that social media is designed in a certain way by developers to increase user’s screen time. These theories relate to my research as I am trying to figure out how social media is detrimental to the youth in society. These theories can help me to know how excessive screen time for kids can affect their lives.

A learning objective I have is to organize my essays in a better way in order to make my work more clear. Often times I just keep writing constantly in an essay and my ideas end up going all over the place. I want the ideas in my work to flow and make sense in the format of my essay. This lack of organization can probably happen when I put my paragraphs in the wrong place or parts of my essay where I fail to elaborate on a claim. I have had this learning objective when writing essays such as the Exploratory Essay which is composed of many ideas and topics. I learned to revise and look over my work after I have written a draft. I am then able to organize the essay how I think it is best. I have developed with this learning outcome and it can be seen in my works. I am way better at organizing my essay compared to before.

My research sources are all scholarly sources which have important information regarding social media use and addictions. Some of these sources are from specific areas such as the medical field. This allows me to have a source to give specific example about what I am writing about. The media I am using in the essay is social media as it is one of the most popular forms of media in the world currently. This form of media supports my topic as I can give clear examples of how social media addiction is such a destructive problem in the modern world. This media includes different platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. this media can be used for a variety of reasons across a variety of fields. This media affects my writing work as it is an easy media together information on since it is so popular in the world today.

My exploratory essay had the purpose of showing the impact of social media on sleep in today’s world. This goes into how social media can affect ones emotions, lifestyle, and work ethic. This essay also touches on the influence of social media in the world today and how prevalent it is. This essay was written for the audience of people who typically use social media. I researched articles written by experts to show that social media in fact has a negative influence on peoples’ sleep. Writing this essay allowed me to realize how big of a problem this is in the world today. My research shows that this problem is only getting worse and measures are needed for it to stop.

One thing that we have done so far that has helped me in my writing process is writing essay. I feel like each time I write something I am constantly improving my writing skills. The exploratory essay especially helped me to grow as a writer due to the task. This essay allowed me to be more creative and come up with my own topic. I was learn a lot about my writing skills after writing this essay. I might apply this tool by focusing on my growth after writing essays in the future. I would like to spend more time on my organization in my essay so my essay could be more clear for the reader. I will acquire my knowledge by reading and analyzing my essay so that I can make minimal mistakes in the future.

Semi- Weekly Reflection

One article I am using for research for my exploratory essay is called “Just How Harmful is Social Media? There were many things that I realized from annotating this text. This includes that there can be mental health affects related to social media use. This social media can also lead to specific behaviors by social media users. Many young people are the most affected by social media. Values taught through social media can have an effect on mental health. Annotating my article definitely helped me to understand specific details about the text as well as the main points it was trying to get across. Another thing I could do to help me to process this article is to reflect on it and see how it can connect to the modern world that I know.

This CNF had to purpose of informing people on how media can impact ones identity. This dives into the different factors of ones identity which can compose who they are and how media can influence each one of them. This CNF allows a discussion on how media touches multiples aspects of a persons identity including cultural background and personal life. This essay allowed me reflect on my own factors of my identity and look at them with some depth. I made me realize how they are even influenced by different types of media. It has allowed me to realize how much of an impact this media has had on my lifestyle.
