This article is about how social media addiction and the use of social media is different around the world. It describes the different factors of parts of the world where social media use is more prevalent. These different factors are the type of government, culture, and the demographics. The different types of government affect the norms of the people who embrace it, such as how a collectivist culture is different from an individualistic culture.
The ideas in this source that align with my topic are the global use of social media around the world and use of it in different cultures. The source shows that social media can be used worldwide by a variety of different people with different backgrounds and cultures. Social media is used differently by these people and some people might use it more than others depending on who they are.
I plan to use this source in my work to show how social media is spread throughout the world and that problems like social media addiction can be an international problem. This can be the case for many people across the world as it is easy to use an excessive amount of time on social media. There are many applications regarding social media in the modern world in many places across the earth. This includes those such as promoting a business which is a common use for social media.
Çınar, Selin. “Why Social Media Use Is so Attractive among Young People in the 21st Century?” Brazilian Journal of Science, www.brazilianjournalofscience.com.br/revista/article/view/285. Accessed 22 Oct. 2023.
This article is about how and why social media is so popular in the modern world. It talks about the large amount of time spent by people on social media. The article describes how especially the youth are so attracted to social media because of what it has to offer for them such as trends and connection with others. These trends are popular aspects of the media that hold relevance for users for some time. This concept of trends is one of the things that allows social media to be enticing for its users.
The idea in this source that aligns with my topic is the constant use of social media by young people. Young people, generally people who are teens to the 20’s, have one of the biggest presences on social media. However, these people tend to spend more time than they need to on social media. This allows them to use their time on social media instead of other productive things that could be a use of their valuable time.
I plan to use this source in my work to show how different enticing factors of social media are in its design to make the youth more engaged with it. There are different methods and ways to keep people on the app for a long amount of time. One of these ways includes showing one’s personal interests in posts and videos. Methods like these cause people to be on social media instead of making a better use of their time.

This source is about how social media has been used by medical professionals to grow their networks. In this way, doctors can have better communication with their patients and other practices can be relatable to modern times. However, it also described the consequences of using social media in this field. This included the misalignment with facts and misinformation and there may be a cause for a bad image for those in the health field. For example, workers and students getting fired over a social media post.
The idea in this source that aligns with my essay is that there can be both benefits and consequences of using social media. You can use it to grow your communication with mass media or just individuals which can benefit you. You can also, however, use it to make posts that can ruin your career and make you lose many opportunities. It can cause one to either go forward in life or take a step back.
I can use this source to show how social media affects a specific field. I can use the example of the consequences of social media in the medical field to show how destructive social media can be to someone’s life. I can then compare this example with the medical fields to other fields such as business and talk about this problem in a more general way.

This article is about social media’s role in different parts of society such as in finance, news, and politics. It describes if you can really trust what you see in social media when involving these factors. This is because there is a lot of misinformation in these parts of the media. This is mainly because of the media changing constantly with different viewpoints and perspectives clashing.
The idea in this source that aligns with my topic is the trust that people put in social media. People often trust news from different sources in the media without checking if it is a reliable source. This can be misinformation in politics or even the news. This trust can be dangerous in these situations because it has the possibility to have a nationwide or even international effect.
I plan to use this source to show how people are often fooled and misled by information on social media. This effect by social media will be another destructive effect to society. This effect has the opportunity to change lives in a negative way. It can start the foundation for a wide range of problems.

This article is about the growth of activity of young people on social media. Young people have one of the biggest presences in the social media world. This source also describes their activity on different social media apps and the amount of time spent on them. These apps include Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok. These young people seem to be on these platforms for an excessive amount of time. The article shows how social media is negatively affecting young people’s health.
The idea in this source that aligns with my topic is that social media use is detrimental to the lives of the youth. Social media can take up the valuable time of these young people. Many of the youth spend many hours on these apps because these platforms target people of this age group. These apps are designed to keep specific people to engage with it.
I plan to use this source in my work to show the degree to which young people have a problem with social media addiction. This addiction can be defined by the excessive amount of time these young people are on these apps. This addiction is another way social media can be destructive to society. It limits the use of the valuable time of these young people.

Reyes. “Pros & Cons: Impacts of Social Media on Mental Health – BMC Psychology.” BioMed Central, BioMed Central, 6 July 2023, https://bmcpsychology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40359-023-01243-x#:~:text=The%20use%20of%20social%20media,essential%20to%20social%20media%20 consumption.
This article is about how social media has an effect on people’s mental health. It describes how there are positive and negative effects to mental health due to social media use. The positive aspects of it being the interactions with others, which can allow one to improve their social health. There are also negative effects which are stress and pressure which can be caused by online critics or even bullying. It also claims that users should be mindful and moderate when using social media. Too much time on social media could be the problem for these negative effects on mental health.
The ideas in this source that aligns with my topic are that there are costs and benefits to the use of social media to one’s health. For example, social media can be a good way to interact with others and can develop one’s confidence and social skills . On the other hand, an excessive use of social media can lead to negative consequences such as the worsening of mental health.
I plan to use this source in my work to show that social media plays a big role in people’s mental health especially in constant users. This constant use which can be addiction can allow worse mental health depending on the severity of the addiction. The stress and pressure caused may increase if a person’s practices do not change. I could describe how a change in one’s ways may be able to prevent the addiction. I could also go into how there are good ways to use social media such as with making friends. I could then identify the causes of the negative effects of social media and then make my claim that it is best to avoid them.
